Before the Mayflower we were already giving thanks
Before the first snow we will break bread at the same table
Before the eve of Christmas whole phrases will be spoken
Before the new year countdown giggles become belly-hurt laughter
Before Martin Luther King Jr. Day we will hold hands
Before the Valentine hype we will know each others heart
Before the 4-leaf Clover appears we will acknowledge the green light
Before the rain stops falling we will walk a path clear of yesteryear debris
Before the gentle blink of Spring we will be sprung
Before the 4th of July we will make our own fireworks show
Before summers end we will be joined at the hip...who knew
Before the leaves fall and colors fade we will be masters of love
